Bridging Continents: Bharat Africa Setu to Transform India-Africa Trade

DP World and the Government of India have unveiled the Bharat Africa Setu, a groundbreaking initiative designed to double trade between India and Africa. This ambitious project aims to connect DP World’s ports, economic zones, and logistics parks across both regions, creating a seamless trade ecosystem. Indian exporters will gain access to 53 African countries and over 260,000 points of sale, unlocking immense market potential.

The Bharat Africa Setu integrates physical infrastructure with value-added services such as export finance, branding, packaging, logistics, and certification. This initiative is expected to elevate India’s share of African imports from 6.5 percent to 12 percent by 2030, significantly boosting bilateral trade. Supported by India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of External Affairs, the project underscores the importance of South-South cooperation in fostering economic growth.
