Centre Doubles Tax Devolution: States Get ₹1.73 Lakh Crore Boost for Development

The Union Government has released ₹1,73,030 crore as tax devolution to state governments in January 2025, nearly doubling the monthly allocation to accelerate capital spending. Uttar Pradesh received the highest share at ₹31,039 crore, followed by Bihar at ₹17,403 crore and West Bengal at ₹13,017 crore. This enhanced allocation aims to enable states to fast-track their development projects and welfare initiatives. The move comes as part of the government's strategy to support states in financing crucial infrastructure and social welfare programs.
