Certified Delight: Araku Coffee Wins Over Europe and Tata

Andhra Pradesh's Araku Coffee has attained a milestone with organic certification, drawing European buyers and the Tata group. Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) has successfully certified 2,600 tribal farmers on 2,275 hectares in Chintapalli and GK Veedhi mandals. This arduous process, in progress since 2019, guarantees higher and fair prices for organic crops. GCC has signed a deal with Tata Consumer Products to sell and distribute certified Araku Coffee. The move has promoted awareness of organic farming among tribal cultivators and rewarded sustainable cultivation. Arabica Parchment is now purchased at Rs 450 per kg, compared to Rs 400 for the normal variety, while Arabica Cherry is being sold at Rs 330 per kg, higher than Rs 250.
