Checkmate in Paris: Vidit Gujrathi Qualifies for Freestyle Grand Slam

Vidit Gujrathi earned a Paris Freestyle Chess Grand Slam spot after qualifying through the play-in event by defeating Amin Tabatabaei and Richard Rapport. The final spot is reserved for him along with other leading players such as Magnus Carlsen and Gukesh Dommaraju. This is considering Vidit has hardly had time to practice chess over the last few months because of his involvement. He will attend Paris shortly after his wedding, jokingly calling it his honeymoon. Vidit's victory is a new beginning in his career, referred to as "Vidit 3.0" by his fiancée.
