China's New Favorite: iPhone 16e Outshines SE

The iPhone 16e has recorded a 60% more powerful debut in China than the iPhone SE, says IDC. This success notwithstanding, Apple's total sales in China are expected to fall 2% this year. The $599 iPhone 16e competes with Android devices like Xiaomi and Vivo, which are gaining strength from Chinese government subsidies. The device's limited capabilities, including a single camera at the back and restricted AI functions, are also a challenge. Nevertheless, the iPhone 16e should sell well in price-conscious markets like India, potentially selling up to 20% of iPhone units there.
