City Boy, Country’s Hope: Alankrith Rapole Makes U-19 England Squad

Hyderabad's emerging cricket sensation, Alankrith Rapole, has been picked as a standby wicketkeeper of the Indian Under-19 team that will tour England from June 24 to July 23, 2025. Alankrith, a resident of Boduppal, is not only the first and only Telangana player in the team but also a proud moment for the state and his family.

Alankrith's pathway is a true example of dedication and hard work. Under the watch of his father, Amit Kumar, who played club cricket, Alankrith has reached great heights in the domestic circuit. Alankrith has played for Hyderabad in the Cooch Behar Trophy for three seasons, scoring two centuries and some vital fifties. His consistency, particularly in the Inter-NCA matches, earned him a place as reserve for the England tour.

The Indian U-19 team will be skippered by Mumbai opener Ayush Mhatre, with vice-captain Abhigyan Kundu. The squad includes IPL sensations such as 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who led a record-breaking season for Rajasthan Royals, and a few more gifted talents. The tour consists of a 50-over warm-up, five Youth ODIs, and two multi-day matches against England U-19, with matches on the cards across Loughborough, Hove, Northampton, Worcester, Beckenham, and Chelmsford.
