Clean Energy Winds Shift: Adani Scraps Sri Lanka Wind Farm Deal

Adani Green Energy has officially withdrawn from its $442 million wind power project in Sri Lanka, citing financial unviability. The decision comes after the new Sri Lankan government, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, sought to renegotiate the power purchase agreement signed in May 2024. The project, which aimed to develop two wind farms with a total capacity of 484 megawatts in Mannar and Pooneryn regions, faced challenges including environmental concerns and legal hurdles. Despite this setback, Adani Group remains open to future collaborations with Sri Lanka. This withdrawal marks a significant shift in the country's renewable energy landscape and highlights the complexities of international infrastructure investments.
