Congress Distances Itself from AAP’s Delhi Debacle – ‘Not Our Responsibility’

As of February 8, 2025, the Delhi Assembly election results have been declared. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a majority, marking its first victory in Delhi since 1993. The incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was defeated, with several prominent cabinet ministers in the Atishi Marlena administration losing their seats. The Indian National Congress, which contested all 70 seats independently, failed to win any seats. Despite being part of the national opposition alliance, INDIA, both AAP and Congress had earlier declared they would contest the Delhi elections separately, with no alliance between them. Following the election results, Congress leaders distanced themselves from AAP's electoral setback, emphasizing their decision to contest independently and attributing AAP's defeat to its own strategies and performance.
