Cricket's Olympic Comeback: Six Teams to Battle for Glory at LA 2028

Cricket is set to make a historic return to the Olympics at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, marking its first appearance in over a century since the Paris 1900 Games. The International Olympic Committee has confirmed that both men's and women's tournaments will feature six teams each, competing in the fast-paced T20 format.  

A total of 90 athlete quotas have been allocated for each gender, allowing every team to name a 15-member squad. The host nation, the United States, is expected to secure a direct spot, leaving five slots open for qualification. The qualification criteria are yet to be finalized, but the inclusion of cricket is seen as a significant step in expanding the sport's global reach.  

Cricket's return to the Olympics is part of a broader initiative to introduce new sports, including baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, and squash.
