In a record-breaking stride, Chinese tech company DeepSeek has officially clinched the mantle as the globe's fastest-growing AI device, surpassing industry giants such as OpenAI's ChatGPT. According to data from AI analytics platform aitools.xyz, DeepSeek posted a whopping 525 million visits monthly in March 2025, leaving behind ChatGPT's 500 million visits. Such a surge means a breathtaking boost in DeepSeek's worldwide market share to 6.58% from 2.34%, among the top players in the AI market worldwide.

 

DeepSeek's chatbot is also ranked second in the chatbot category with a market share of 12.12% with a total of 792.6 million visits and 136.5 million visitors. DeepSeek's success stems from the reality that it has used the unique strategy of constructing AI models for one-third of the cost of Western rivals based on less complex chips and open-source technology.

 

Launched in January 2025, DeepSeek's R1 model stunned the AI world by offering low prices and high performance, challenging traditional assumptions about resource-intensive AI development. Its rapid uptake and deployment on top Chinese platforms like Tencent's Weixin and Baidu also suggest its potential to be a global AI tool disruptor as well as search technologies.
