Defying Gravity and Diabetes: Ax-4 Mission's Sweet Space Revolution

Scheduled for launch in the spring of 2025, the Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) to the International Space Station includes a visionary study that might one day permit diabetics to travel in space. The Suite Ride project, undertaken in collaboration with Burjeel Holdings, aims to mitigate the challenges of managing diabetes in microgravity. The research involves calibrated blood glucose monitoring, data capture in orbit, and real-time transmission of that data to Ground Control for medical assessment. Such pioneering work could make commercial space travel an option for insulin-dependent individuals, thus taking a huge leap toward inclusivity in space travel.
