Delhi Launches ₹50,000/Month Tourism Fellowship to Empower Youth and Preserve Heritage

In a bold move to promote cultural preservation and youth engagement, the Delhi government has launched the Tourism and Heritage Fellowship Programme, offering a monthly stipend of ₹50,000 to selected young professionals. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on July 14, 2025, the initiative aims to transform Delhi into a globally recognized tourism hub while nurturing a new generation of heritage ambassadors.

Key Highlights of the Fellowship
Stipend: ₹50,000 per month for one year

Eligibility: Indian citizens under 35 with a graduate degree and at least one year of experience in tourism or related fields

Selection: 40 fellows annually

Languages & Skills: Proficiency in Hindi and English, plus strong digital skills required

Certification: Formal certificate awarded upon completion

Roles & Responsibilities of Fellows
Fellows will actively contribute to Delhi’s tourism ecosystem through:

Conducting heritage walks and guided tours

Creating digital content and promotional material

Supporting event coordination and tourist center operations

Assisting with film shoot logistics and MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions)

Promoting iconic sites like Dilli Haat and the Garden of Five Senses

The programme will be implemented by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC).

“This fellowship offers a platform for young individuals to work closely on government projects and contribute towards making Delhi a vibrant, inclusive and globally recognised tourism destination,” said CM Rekha Gupta.

The initiative aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision by encouraging homegrown talent and reducing reliance on external consultants.
