Delhi’s Bold EV Leap: Only Electric Three-Wheelers From 2027

The Delhi government has unveiled its Draft EV Policy 2026, signaling a decisive push toward electrification of urban transport. With a phased ban on petrol and CNG-powered vehicles, the policy aims to tackle air pollution, strengthen energy security, and make electric mobility more accessible through subsidies and infrastructure expansion.

Electric Three-Wheelers From 2027

From January 1, 2027, only electric three-wheelers will be permitted for new registrations, reshaping last-mile connectivity and public transport.

Two-Wheelers Transition By 2028

By April 1, 2028, new registrations of petrol-powered two-wheelers will be phased out, ensuring a complete shift to electric alternatives.

Incentives And Infrastructure

The policy offers scrappage incentives of up to ₹1 lakh for electric cars, zero road tax on EVs priced up to ₹30 lakh, and a ₹3,954 crore outlay to expand charging infrastructure across the city.
