The vibrant spring festival, which commemorates the arrival of spring and good triumphing over evil, is a symbol of renewal and reconciliation. Smiling revelers in white drenched one another in colored powders, danced to lively music, and indulged in traditional sweets like gujiya and thandai. It is a national holiday in India but a two-day celebration in Nepal. There was celebration with the bonfires called Holika Dahan as a sign to burn evil forces. It is a Hindu myth-based tradition, celebrating the godly love of Lord Krishna for Radha.
