The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program is allocating $5 billion to states to install EV charging infrastructure, with funds being available for purchasing, installing, and operating charging facilities. Startups can access these grants by establishing partnerships with state agencies or by applying for federal funding from the Department of Energy's Vehicle Technologies Office, which funds R&D and deployment of new EV technologies. Additional incentives—reimbursable up to $4,000 for public charging stations—further lower the barriers to entry.
