In a game-changing move, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has enabled UPI users to reset their UPI PIN via biometric authentication such as facial recognition or fingerprint scans, eliminating the traditional dependency on debit or ATM cards. This seamless and secure innovation is set to further democratize digital payments across India, empowering millions who face difficulties resetting their UPI PIN due to lost or inaccessible debit cards.

The updated reset method leverages Aadhaar-linked biometric verification, making the process highly secure while significantly reducing friction. Users can now authenticate their identity instantly on their UPI app through face or fingerprint scans, triggering a swift PIN reset flow.
