Fair Exports India Slashes Water Waste-Adil Ali’s ZLD System Sets a New Standard for Sustainable Abattoirs

In a first for sustainable industrial operations, Mohd Adil Ali, Head of Abattoir, Rendering and Environmental Operations at Fair Exports India Pvt. Ltd., has announced commissioning India's first Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system in the abattoir sector. This first-ever initiative is going to address the glaring problem of water pollution in the form of untreated and partially treated effluents in the meat sector.

 

The ZLD system, which is an advanced technology for wastewater treatment, prevents any liquid waste from being discharged from the plant through recycling and reuse of water within the plant. It is particularly important in the meat industry, where effluent quality is inconsistent and conventional treatment plants usually cannot achieve rigorous environmental requirements. The new ZLD system includes Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs), which ensure better water purification, lower pathogens, and lower sludge production. The treated water can be recycled for industrial use like cleaning and irrigation, and hence is eco-friendly and cost-effective.

 

Mohd Adil Ali reminded us that the MBR system also conserves chemicals, is automated, and gives consistent and low-maintenance performance-ideal for the tough meat processing environment. He has also developed an extremely effective salt extraction system with up to 80% efficiency, further augmenting resource recovery and operation sustainability.

 

Ali emphasized that technological advancements need to be supplemented by water-conserving measures at each level of operation in order to realize maximum conservation. Fair Exports India Pvt.
