In 1991, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, rising through the ranks to become organizing secretary of Tamil Nadu, then national secretary and vice president.

 

Ganesan’s leadership saw him drive substantial political organization, especially across southern India, and advocate for the welfare of diverse communities. His career in Parliament included service as Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh.

He served as Governor of Manipur from August 2021 and held additional charge as West Bengal Governor between July and November 2022.
