Festive Shutdown Alert: Banks To Be Closed For 21 Days Across India In October 2025

As India enters a month packed with festivals and regional observances, banking services across the country will face widespread closures. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banks will remain shut for up to 21 days in different cities due to national holidays, regional celebrations, and regular weekends. Customers are advised to plan ahead to avoid disruptions in financial transactions.

- October 2: Gandhi Jayanti – Nationwide closure  
- October 3 to 5: Durga Puja – Banks closed in West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Odisha  
- October 11: Maha Saptami – Regional holiday in eastern states  
- October 12: Maha Ashtami – Observed in parts of Bengal and Northeast  
- October 13: Maha Navami – Continued closures in select regions  
- October 14: Vijaya Dashami/Dussehra – Pan-India closures in most states  
- October 17: Kati Bihu – Assam-specific holiday  
- October 20: Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi – Holiday in Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh  
- October 26: Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) – Banks closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, North India  
- October 27: Govardhan Puja – Observed in UP, Bihar, Rajasthan  
- October 28: Bhai Dooj – Regional closures in North and West India  
- October 4, 11, 18, 25: Saturdays (second and fourth) – Non-working days  
- October 5, 12, 19, 26: Sundays – Regular weekly closures
