First Batch of Hajj 2025 Pilgrims Departs from Srinagar for Mecca

The sacred journey of Hajj 2025 has begun, with the first batch of pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir departing for Mecca. A total of 178 pilgrims boarded their flight from Srinagar International Airport, marking the start of this year’s pilgrimage season. The departure was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who extended their best wishes to the travelers.  

Pilgrimage Details  

The first flight carried 96 men and 82 women, all embarking on the spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia. This year, a total of 3,622 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir, including 242 from Ladakh, will undertake Hajj. The flights are scheduled between May 4 and May 15, with no departures on May 5 and 6.  

Government Support and Arrangements  

Officials from the Indian Consulate in Jeddah will receive the pilgrims upon arrival, ensuring smooth coordination. The Ministry of External Affairs has facilitated arrangements to provide assistance throughout the journey. Special buses transported pilgrims from the Hajj House in Srinagar to the airport, where emotional farewells took place as families bid goodbye to their loved ones.  

Spiritual Reflections  

Many pilgrims expressed deep emotions about their journey, describing it as a lifelong dream. Malik Abrar Altaf, one of the travelers, shared his hope for peace in Kashmir, stating that he would pray for the well-being of the region. Others emphasized the significance of Hajj as a moment of spiritual fulfillment and unity.
