Former goalkeeper Subrata Paul has been named director of the Indian National Football team.

In a groundbreaking move for Indian football, Subrata Paul, the former national goalkeeper, has been appointed as the director of the Indian National Football team. The decision was taken by the All India Football Federation Technical Committee chaired by former India captain IM Vijayan during a meeting yesterday. This is part of a wider plan for the revamp of Indian football, which includes grassroots development programs and the formation of new FIFA academies. In a landmark decision, the committee also offered that Bibiano Fernandes be the head coach of the U20 National Men's team. This decision points to a more comprehensive approach towards developing talent across age groups.
