Partnership Overview

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport and Somon Air have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance and increase passenger and cargo traffic between Germany and Tajikistan.
The MoU was signed by TRIWO Hahn Airport GmbH and LLC Air Company Somon Air in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on May 7, 2025.

Strategic Goals

Both companies will share their resources and experience to establish new routes and increase operations, enhancing air connections between the two nations.
The alliance is designed to increase both passenger traffic and air freight, capitalizing on Frankfurt-Hahn's position as a logistics hub in central Europe.

Leadership Statements

Ruediger Franke, Managing Director Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, stressed the alliance as part of the airport's expansion strategy for its route network and opening up new markets.
Abdulkosim Valiev, Somon Air CEO, stressed the significance of the alliance for Somon Air's growth in Germany.

Operational Impact

Somon Air, an IATA member operating Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 jets, will employ this alliance to expand its presence throughout Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and China.
Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, which operates on a 24-hour permit and strategic position, served 1.9 million passengers in 2024 (up 12% on 2023) and more than 22,000 tons of air cargo in Q1 2025 (up 8%).

Regional and Economic Significance

The alliance will promote trade, tourism, and economic relations between Tajikistan and Germany with efficient access to important European markets such as France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

The initiative is regarded as an important step for both airports to improve their competitiveness and connectivity within the region.
