Fresh Snowfall Blankets Himachal's Upper Reaches

Several higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Popular tourist destinations including Narkanda, Kufri, Dalhousie, and Manali experienced significant snowfall. The Meteorological Department issued a 'yellow' alert for thunderstorms and lightning in select districts. Kothi received the highest snowfall at 33 cm, while other areas like Gondla, Keylong, and Manali also saw considerable snow. The snowfall has kindled hopes among hoteliers for increased tourist footfall and brought cheer to horticulturists. However, it has made roads slippery, prompting police to advise against unnecessary travel. The state's rainfall deficit from January 1 to February 5 stands at 73 percent.
