On 13 February 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump sat down in Washington, D.C., to inaugurate the "US-India COMPACT" effort, which is focused on bolstering defense, trade, and technology relationships. This historic pact comprises a fresh 10-year defense structure and lofty targets for doubling bilateral commerce to $500 billion by 2030. The leaders focused on cooperation in energy security, artificial intelligence, and civil nuclear power, along with tariff matters that have soured trade relations. The effort represents a watershed in the India-US relationship, with cooperation balanced against competitive features as both countries balance their geopolitics.
