Fueling the Future: India’s Bold Nuclear Expansion Plans Unveiled!

India can become an important player in the world nuclear technology market, which has been identified by the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi. According to him, India's leading nuclear power due to access to Western technologies, as well as indigenous design efforts, fits well for exporting technologies and forging collaboration with foreign partners. The Indian government is planning to boost its nuclear capability to 100 GW by 2047, with more than 100 domestic reactors in the works. The ambitious plan is backed by heavy investments and policymaker efforts to make private sector involvement more attractive, especially in the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). Such efforts not only boost the energy security of India but also conform to international sustainability objectives.
