Glass, Controversy, and $800 a Night: Wright's Posthumous Masterpiece

A new Frank Lloyd Wright house, based on the architect's last design for a house, has been built in Willoughby Hills, Ohio. RiverRock, as it is called, is a 2,000-square-foot house that will comfortably host six guests for an $800 nightly rate and boasts a glass-walled living room. However, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation has dismissed the project because "it could not in good faith represent the intended designs of Wright himself." The Foundation says that the nature of modern building techniques and materials will, of necessity, allow for nothing but interpretations of Wright's original designs. Still, the owners of the home are adamant they closely followed Wright's plans, making changes only "under the skin" to comply with current building codes. It is located next to another home designed by Wright, close to a second home on the same 30-acre property.
