Glenmark Injects New Life into US Market with Acetylcysteine Acquisition

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA has acquired and introduced Acetylcysteine Injection, 6 gm/30 mL (200 mg/mL) Single-Dose Vials in the US market. The company acquired the Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) from Aspen Pharma USA Inc. This generic product is therapeutically equivalent to Cumberland Pharmaceuticals' Acetadote Injection. The drug, employed for the treatment of acetaminophen overdose, generated sales of about $15.2 million on an annual basis in the US market during the 12-month horizon through January 2025. According to Marc Kikuchi, President and Business Head, North America, Glenmark, this addition enhances their injectable franchise and augments growth in the hospital business. The deal falls in line with Glenmark's plan to increase its footprint in the US pharma market.
