Global Military Rankings: India and Pakistan in 2025

The latest Global Firepower Index for 2025 has ranked the world's most powerful militaries based on a range of factors, including defense technology, financial resources, logistics, and strategic positioning. The United States continues to hold the top spot, followed by Russia, China, and India. Pakistan, which was previously ranked ninth, has now dropped to twelfth place.  

Key highlights of the rankings:  
- India ranks fourth globally, with a military personnel strength of 1,455,550, supported by 2,229 aircraft, 4,201 tanks, and a fleet of 293 naval ships. Its indigenous missile systems, including Agni and BrahMos, contribute to its regional dominance.  
- Pakistan ranks twelfth, with 654,000 active military personnel, 1,434 aircraft, 3,742 tanks, and a naval fleet of 114 vessels. Despite its lower ranking, Pakistan maintains a strong defense posture with a focus on regional security.  
- The United States leads the rankings with 2,127,500 military personnel, 13,043 aircraft, and 4,640 tanks, supported by extensive global military bases and alliances.  
- Russia and China follow closely, with Russia maintaining a vast tank fleet and nuclear capabilities, while China continues to expand its military presence with advanced weaponry and strategic investments.  

The rankings reflect ongoing shifts in global military power, with nations focusing on technological advancements and strategic defense initiatives to maintain their positions.
