Godavari Biorefineries Faces Unexpected Tax Bill: Will It Impact Growth?

Godavari Biorefineries Limited has received a tax demand notice of ₹46.15 crore, including interest, from the Income Tax Department on March 24, 2025. The company believes the demand is not maintainable and plans to appeal, seek rectification, and request a stay order. Godavari Biorefineries stated that there is no immediate impact on its financials, operations, or other activities. This development comes as the company recently reported improved performance in Q3 FY25, with revenue from operations at ₹447.3 crore and EBITDA at ₹39.7 crore. The company continues to focus on its growth strategy in bio-based chemicals and ethanol production.
