Google Unveils Scaled AI Projects At India AI Impact Summit 2026

Google has unveiled a series of scaled AI projects at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, marking one of its most significant commitments to India’s digital future. The tech giant emphasized its vision to “Make AI in India and Make AI work for India,” with investments aimed at strengthening national AI infrastructure and supporting innovation across critical sectors.  

Key highlights from the announcement include  

• Google committed over $15 million to India’s AI ecosystem, spanning healthcare, education, agriculture, and clean energy.  
• An $8 million funding package was announced for four government-backed AI Centers of Excellence.  
• A $2 million fund was allocated to Indic language AI research at IIT Bombay, supporting multilingual digital transformation.  
• Google partnered with AIIMS and IISc to develop MedGemma, a healthcare foundation model focusing on dermatology and patient prioritization.  

The initiatives will integrate AI into India’s digital public infrastructure, enhancing governance and citizen services.  
Collaborations aim to empower startups, developers, and researchers to build scalable AI solutions for national challenges.  
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted AI as a strategic national capability, not just a short-term trend.
