Green Chardham Yatra 2025: Faith Meets Sustainability

Uttarakhand is preparing for a revolutionary yatra with its "Green Chardham Yatra" program. With Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the helm, the state is looking to eliminate single-use plastic and encourage green habits on the holy trails to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Pilgrims will have cleaner environments, healthier cuisine, and better infrastructure.

Some of the key initiatives involve prohibiting single-use plastics, educating hotel operators in green practices, and providing QR-coded plastic bottles and bags with refundable deposits to promote correct waste disposal. The government is also upgrading facilities such as parking lots, guesthouses, and real-time monitoring control rooms to make the travel safer and more convenient.

This initiative not only saves the delicate Himalayan environment but also serves as an example of harmonizing spirituality with environmental stewardship. Uttarakhand calls upon pilgrims to join hands in saving its natural beauty while undertaking this sacred journey.
