HealthCare’s New Face in Delhi: 187 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to Deliver Quality Care Across City

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled plans to substantially expand the city’s public healthcare infrastructure by setting up 187 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs by the end of December. Currently, 168 such centres function across Delhi, offering comprehensive primary healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat programme.

The government plans to phase out rented health centres, moving all operations into government-owned facilities equipped with advanced infrastructure to provide wider and more effective medical services. These new centres will offer outpatient care, diagnostic tests via external labs, free medicines, maternal and child health services, mental health screening, dental care, and emergency medical assistance.

Quoting the Chief Minister, these Mandirs are tailored to local community healthcare needs, offering standardized, respectful, and high-quality care near citizens' homes. This upgraded framework represents a significant advancement over previous Mohalla Clinics, which faced limitations due to their infrastructure and service scope.

The initiative aims to reduce patient load on major hospitals by making quality primary healthcare accessible at the neighbourhood level, ensuring continuity and inclusivity in health services.
