Himachal Pradesh Allocates ₹1,800 Crore to Modernize Medical Equipment in Government Hospitals

In a significant move to enhance healthcare services, the Himachal Pradesh government has earmarked approximately ₹1,800 crore to replace outdated medical machinery in state-run hospitals. This initiative aims to improve patient care by introducing advanced technologies, including robotic surgery and state-of-the-art diagnostic tools such as 3-Tesla MRI and PET scan machines. Additionally, a 150-bed Cancer Care Center is planned for Hamirpur to provide specialized treatment within the state. The government also intends to upgrade 69 health institutions with modern laboratories and digital equipment, aiming to reduce the annual outflow of 9.5 lakh patients seeking treatment elsewhere, which currently results in an economic loss of ₹1,350 crore to the state's GDP.
