Himachal Pradesh: Landslides, Flash Floods Sweep Kullu Off Its Feet

Snowfall and heavy rains have caused devastation in Himachal Pradesh, especially in the district of Kullu. Flash floods and landslides have caused more than 200 roads to be blocked, affected electricity supply, and inundated many areas. In Kullu, Sarvari rivulet overflowed and inundated the vegetable market of Bhuntar town. Shastri Nagar also suffered extensive damage with vehicles trapped under the debris and houses submerged. The Chandigarh-Manali road was closed temporarily because of landslides. Manali got its maximum snowfall so far this season, with a maximum of 2 feet of snowfall in certain areas. Educational institutions have been closed and warnings have been issued by the authorities as rescue operations are on.
