IIT Madras Welcomes Five National Athletes Under New Admission Initiative

In a first for IITs, IIT Madras has admitted five exceptional national athletes through its innovative 'Sports Excellence Admission' (SEA) category for the academic year 2024-2025. This is the first of its kind initiative among IITs, which provides two supernumerary seats in each undergraduate program, focusing on recognizing sports talent alongside academic merit. The athletes cleared the JEE Advanced examination and excel in multiple sports including volleyball and table tennis. It will help in inculcating the skill of balancing studies with sports.
