IMD Predicts Significant 2-5°C Night Temperature Drop Over Northwest and Central India

The IMD’s latest bulletin issued on November 8, 2025, highlights an early winter chill as night temperatures plunge below seasonal averages across vast regions of northern and central India. A western disturbance and changing wind patterns are driving this drop, bringing cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in isolated parts of East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.

Among the affected states are Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, where temperatures are expected to remain 2 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal. Specifically, some pockets in East Rajasthan have reported night temperatures dipping below 10°C, intensifying cold wave conditions.

The IMD also forecast a moderate temperature drop of approximately 2°C in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh in coming days, with night temperatures dipping 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over eastern India thereafter.

Simultaneously, southern India, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala, is preparing for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms due to active northeast monsoon conditions.

Citizens are advised to prepare for colder nights, particularly vulnerable groups and farmers, who should take appropriate measures to protect crops and health.
