India Court to Hear Delhi Airport Operator's Plea Against Commercial Flights from Nearby Defence Aerodrome

The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a plea from Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the operator of Indira Gandhi International Airport, against the government's decision to allow commercial flights from a nearby defence aerodrome at Hindon. DIAL argues that this move breaches aviation regulations and could render the Delhi airport economically unviable. The lawsuit, filed on March 10, claims that allowing flights from Hindon violates rules prohibiting new airports within 150 km of an existing one unless justified by passenger demand. The case is set to be heard soon, with DIAL seeking to overturn the government's decision.
