India Deploys 80-Member NDRF Team for Earthquake Relief in Myanmar

In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, India has launched "Operation Brahma," deploying an 80-member National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team to assist in rescue and relief efforts. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, caused widespread destruction, particularly in the Mandalay region, claiming over 1,000 lives and injuring thousands more.

The NDRF team, equipped with advanced rescue tools and led by a Commandant rank officer, is set to arrive in Myanmar by Saturday evening. This marks India's third international deployment of the NDRF, following successful missions in Nepal (2015) and Turkey (2023). Additionally, India has sent 15 tonnes of relief materials via a C130J military transport aircraft to support the affected communities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with Myanmar, emphasizing India's commitment to providing all possible assistance during this crisis.
