India Lodges Strong Protest Against Turkey's Kashmir Comments

India has criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent remarks on Kashmir and lodged a formal protest with the Turkish ambassador. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Randhir Jaiswal aptly stated that such "objectionable" remarks regarding India's internal matters are unacceptable. Erdogan had called upon the UN to address the Kashmir issue during his tour of Pakistan, once again underlining Turkey's support for Pakistan on the matter. India has stated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of the country and that Pakistan's cross-border terrorism is the greatest threat to the entire region4. The incident pushed the already strained diplomatic relations between India and Turkey further down.
