India Ready to Host 2036 Olympics: Amit Shah

India has officially declared its intention to host the 2036 Olympics, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressing optimism during the closing ceremony of the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand. Shah emphasized the advancements in India’s sports infrastructure and ecosystem, noting a substantial increase in the sports budget under Prime Minister Modi’s administration. He remarked, “When the Olympics take place here, our athletes will make the country proud.”  The event also recognized Uttarakhand’s achievement in hosting the Games, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami commended for transforming “Dev Bhoomi” into “Khel Bhoomi.” Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha announced the conclusion of the Games, handing over the responsibility to Meghalaya for 2027.  India’s bid is still in its preliminary stages, with the International Olympic Committee expected to make a decision next year.
