India Rises as Climate Leader Amid Global Uncertainty: A Call for Action

This time around, India, instead of the United States, stands at the center stage of world climate action since the latter is taking a backseat in world climate leadership. India has established a 2030 target with an aim for reducing emissions intensity by 45% and developing 50% of its electricity-generating capacity to non-fossil sources. As a result of this, climate change will inflict upon India quite substantial economic shocks of up to 10% of its GDP. Enhancing climate finance and implementing resilient programs will be able to help India lead the developing economies toward sustainable growth.
