India Shows Interest in Hosting 2030 Commonwealth Games, Seeks to Restore Excluded Sports

India has confirmed its plans to bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and intends to submit a letter of intent to the Commonwealth Games Federation by March 31, 2025. This follows the 2026 Games, to be hosted by Victoria, Australia, which cut out a number of sports in which India has traditionally performed well, such as hockey, badminton, wrestling, cricket, and shooting. By hosting the 2030 Games, India is looking to restore these sports, thus ensuring its medal chances and fostering a multicultural sporting culture. The Sports Ministry is busy considering the proposal, which demonstrates India's interest in boosting its global sporting reputation.
