India Signs 20 Billion Rupee Radar Deal to Boost Air Defence Grid

In a major stride toward indigenous defence capability, the Ministry of Defence has signed a 20 billion rupee contract with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) for the supply of advanced Air Defence Fire Control Radars. The agreement is part of India’s broader push to modernize its air defence infrastructure under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Key Contract Highlights

- The radars will be deployed across Indian Army and Air Force units to enhance detection and interception of aerial threats  
- BEL will supply Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA)-based systems capable of tracking multiple targets simultaneously
