India Submits Bid to Host 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad

India has formally submitted an expression of interest to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This move aligns with India's broader ambition to host the 2036 Olympic Games. The bid, led by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and supported by the Gujarat government, aims to revitalize the Commonwealth Games program by including disciplines like shooting, wrestling, and badminton, which were dropped from the 2026 edition. Ahmedabad's selection as the host city is strategic, given its recent success in hosting major events such as the ICC Cricket World Cup final and the Coldplay concert. The city is being developed as a sports hub with significant infrastructure investments.
