India Targets New Airport Every 50 Days: Jewar In February, Bhogapuram By June

India’s aviation sector is witnessing unprecedented growth, with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu declaring that the country will inaugurate a new airport roughly every 50 days. This ambitious plan reflects the government’s commitment to expanding connectivity, boosting regional economies, and meeting the rising demand for air travel.  

Key highlights from the announcement include  

• Jewar Airport, also known as Noida International Airport, will be inaugurated in February 2026.  
• Bhogapuram Airport in Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to open by June 2026.  
• The Civil Aviation Ministry aims to sustain the pace of inaugurating one new airport every 50 days.  
• Jewar Airport is expected to ease congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and serve as a major hub for northern India.  
• Bhogapuram Airport will enhance connectivity in Andhra Pradesh, supporting tourism and industrial growth in the region.  
• India currently has over 150 operational airports, with plans to expand this number significantly in the coming years.  
• The government’s focus is on improving regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme, ensuring affordable air travel for tier-2 and tier-3 cities.  
• Minister Naidu emphasized that the expansion aligns with India’s vision of becoming a global aviation hub.
