India Unveils First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train On Kolkata–Guwahati Route

Indian Railways has introduced the country’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, designed to revolutionize overnight travel. The train, operating on the Kolkata–Guwahati corridor, promises a blend of speed, comfort, and affordability. Equipped with modern interiors, ergonomic sleeper berths, and advanced safety features, the train is expected to redefine passenger experience on long-haul routes.  

Key highlights from the announcement include  

• The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is India’s first sleeper variant of the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat series.  
• It will run on the Kolkata–Guwahati line, covering approximately 1,000 km in less than 14 hours.  
• The train features modern interiors, including modular sleeper berths, touch-free amenities, and improved ventilation systems.

• Fares are expected to be competitive, with sleeper class tickets priced lower than premium trains like Rajdhani Express.
