Indian Graduates’ Employability Drops to 42.6%: Mercer Mettl Report Highlights Skill Gaps

A recent report by Mercer Mettl reveals that the employability of Indian graduates has declined to 42.6% in 2024, down from 44.3% in 2023. This drop is primarily attributed to a lack of non-technical skills, despite improvements in technical roles. Delhi leads as the most employable region with a score of 53.4%, followed by Himachal Pradesh and Punjab at 51.1%. The report emphasizes that while technical proficiency shows promise, especially in AI and ML with a 46% employability rate, gaps in soft skills like creativity remain significant challenges.
