Indian Statistical Institute Files Patent for Novel Squalene Oxidation Process

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) has filed a patent application for an innovative process to obtain the oxidized form of squalene and its related compositions. This development could have significant implications in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, where oxidized squalene is valued for its antioxidant properties. The research team, led by Dr. Suparna Mandal Biswas and Prof. Panchanan Pramanik, has previously worked on processes for recovering squalene from natural sources. This new method aims to enhance the efficiency and yield of oxidized squalene production, potentially benefiting various industries.
