India’s 100-Day TB Campaign Identifies Over 6 Lakh Cases, Boosts Elimination Efforts

Over six lakh fresh tuberculosis cases have been found countrywide during the 100-day intensive TB eradication program run by the Health Ministry Starting on December 7, 2024, the campaign, which employs modern diagnostic technologies including AI-enabled X-rays and NAAT testing, has seen over 11 crore vulnerable people examined over 347 districts. Maharashtra alone had 24,287 fresh cases, thanks in great part to municipal corporations like Mumbai and Nagpur. High-risk groups—including diabetics, smokers, and malnourished people—were also emphasised in the campaign. Organised to guarantee early identification and quick treatment were over 12 lakh TB screening camps (Ni-kshay Shivirs). Through the Ni-kshay Mitra program—which provides patients with nutritional support—the campaign stresses community involvement. Using popular mobilisation and creative ideas, health officials hope to have TB-free India.
