India's 2047 Vision: From Import Reliance to Export Powerhouse

A new report by Bain & Company and Nasscom outlines India's path to becoming a high-income nation with a $23-35 trillion GDP by 2047. To achieve this ambitious goal, India must transition from a net importer to an export-driven economy, particularly in electronics, chemicals, and energy sectors. The report emphasizes the need for technological innovation, sectoral transformation, and workforce development. Key projections include the services sector contributing 60% of GDP, renewable energy reaching 70% of total production, and auto-component exports growing to $200-250 billion. However, challenges such as a projected 50 million workforce skill gap by 2030 and infrastructure deficits must be addressed through public-private partnerships and increased R&D investment.
